All clubs to host 2 regional blitzes

2 to 3 games each. 10 to 15 min per half.

Recommended pitch setup shown in diagram opposite. Change as appropriate.

Host club welcome to invite out of county club to even up numbers.

Zones: Oaly Development Group recommends no zones at u10. But instead to actively coach your players to play in their posi8ons.

Ideal for U10 is 9-a-side, max is 11 aside.

9 aside: 3 backs, 2 midfields, 3 forwards

10 a side: 3 backs, 3 midfields, 3 forwards.

11 a side: 4 backs, 2 mid field, 4 forwards

Size 3 Smart Touch.

Puck out from hand or ground or throw-in after a score. Ref to try to keep game flowing. Keeper to be allowed space and second chances at puck out. If a second goal is scored direct from a poor puck out, referee should throw ball down the field.

Let them play! Encouragement of all skills usage. Full solo: Develop the skill: but if ball is dropped from solo it must be pulled on. Ball may be kicked once but not in succession.

No exclusive ground period. Ground hurling to be encouraged when appropriate during play.

Decision making is an important skill and players need to learn when it is right to pull or lift.

Frees/45s: Strike from the hand or lift and strike.

Fouled player takes free. Nearest to fouled ball takes free/side-line cut.

Scoring: 1pt for a goal & 1 pt. for a point. Scores not kept by referee.

Rotate players. Shake hands afterwards.

Ref should chat to coaches to agree above.

Food after game, keep simple (Drink & Crisps/Fruit). Big spreads are not necessary after blitzes as it puts pressure on parents and discourages clubs from wan8ng to host blitzes.

Note that holy communions will take place during May so weekend blitzes may not suit everyone.

Note that during school term (May & June) many children par8cipate in other activities in the evenings and on Saturday mornings. It is suggested that Saturday or Sunday afternoons should be considered for hos8ng blitzes, subject to pitch availability. Host club to talk to visiting clubs.

Note: Host Club encouraged to invite outside clubs in County border areas to even up numbers unless an Offaly club participating has 2 teams.
