Rules

North and South Regional Blitzes followed by 2 cross-county Go Games blitzes.

All clubs to aI:end same blitzes at u8 to reduce the number of 8mes each club hosts a blitz.

3 games each. 8 to 10 min per half.

Recommended 6 pitch setup shown in diagram opposite. Change as appropriate.

Host club to have schedule ready and avoid the same teams playing each other twice. Host club for following blitz to rotate pairings from previous blitz.

Max 10 and min 7 a side. Reduce pitch as appropriate.

Zones at u8 is recommended (discre8on of host club)

3 equal zones: 1-3-3-3 (max 10 a side)

2 equal zones: 1 Goalie, 4 Backs, 4 Forwards (max 9 a side). No Midfield.

No zones: 1-2-2-2 (max 7 a side)

Any more than 7 a side with no zone is a meaningless mess of bunching at u8.

Puck out from hand or ground or throw-in after a score. Ref to try to keep game flowing. If formal throw-in is 8me consuming, then just throw the ball up the field. (discre8on of host club / ref allowed here). Keeper to be afforded space and extra chances at a puck out. If a second goal is scored direct from a puck out, referee should throw ball down the field.

In the interest of development, all Clubs should work towards playing with Quick Touch rather than First Touch. Discretion allowed.

Ground hurling, unless clubs agree to playing from the hand. Discretion to apply.

No “45s”. Fouled player takes free. Nearest to fouled ball takes free/side-line.

Rotate players. Shake hands afterwards.

Ref should chat to coaches beforehand to agree above. Ref does not keep scores.

Food after game, keep simple (Drink & Crisps/Fruit). Big spreads are not necessary after blitzes as it puts pressure on parents and discourages clubs from wanting to host blitzes.

Note that holy communions will take place during May so weekend blitzes may not suit everyone.

Note that during school term (May & June) many children participate in other activities in the evenings and on Saturday mornings. It is suggested that Friday evenings, and Saturday or Sunday afternoons and evenings should be considered for hosting blitzes, subject to pitch availability. Host club to talk to visiting clubs. No weekday fixtures during school term.

Note: Host Club encouraged to invite outside clubs in County border areas to even up numbers unless an Offaly

club participating has 2 teams.

Cross County Blitzes

For the Cross-County Blitzes at Under 8, it is preferred if mid-Oaly clubs can host them.  This means then, for U10 and U12, we are not asking the same clubs to host all the Cross-County Blitzes. One full sized GAA field can accommodate 6 u8 pitches where 12 teams can play at the same 8me. Host Club to draw up fixtures and try to pair North teams against South teams where possible. All County Blitz 2 should try to shue those pairings again. 3 games each. All players to receive a medal and T-Shirt aOer All County Blitz 2. For the All County Blitzes, coaches should provide refreshments for their own team as catering for 11 clubs is too much to expect from a host club.
